My interest in quilting resulted from watching my grandmother and mother create quilts. My mother taught my sister and me to sew at a relatively young age. She also tried to teach us to crochet but let’s just say that it was not a successful endeavor for me! Sewing intrigued me and I soon became a 3rd generation quilter. I started out piecing the quilts and tying them with yarn like my grandmother.
It was difficult to find quilt shops that carried wide backings, and those that did had a few basic tone on tone ones. This is where the idea of creating Quilted Glo originated. Quilted Glo began in 2007. I am an e-commerce company but also vend at quilt shows to sell my products. I carry a large variety of quilt shop quality wide backings from companies such as Moda, Timeless Treasures, Blank, Northcott, and Wilmington Fabrics.
As I built my business, I expanded into carrying items such as baby panels, pre-cuts, and specialty items. My husband creates some of the tools and finished products that we sell such as turned pens and seam rippers. These seam rippers have 2 ends which can hold either a large and small seam ripper or you can use one end for a stiletto.
I continued tying my quilts until I made a king size bargello quilt and decided that after all that work, I was going to pay to have it quilted. This initiated the desire to own a long arm to expand my quilting skills - a dream I fulfilled thereafter. I have found machine quilting to be very relaxing, and at the same time as I was able to expand my creativity.
So take a spin through my website to see what items may be there that trigger your creativity for either a quilt you are currently making or one you are dreaming of!
